About The

Challenge

Coming Soon

5–12 July 2027 | 8 Days | Mongolia

AED 16,365 per person

There are some places that simply call for a different way of travelling.

Mongolia is one of them.

This eight-day adventure takes you out of Ulaanbaatar and onto the vast Mongolian steppe, where horses have been central to nomadic life for centuries.

Over five days incorporating riding, you'll explore open grasslands, rolling hills and remote countryside from the saddle, typically riding for 4–6 hours and covering around 20–30km per day.

The pace is predominantly walking and trotting, with opportunities for long, comfortable canters where terrain, group ability and conditions allow.

But this isn't simply a riding holiday.

You'll experience traditional ger-camp life, spend time with local communities, connect with the work of the Veloo Foundation, and finish the adventure back in Ulaanbaatar for the colourful City Naadam celebrations.

And the riding programme isn't rigid. The local team can adapt the pace and length of riding days to suit the group, with opportunities for more experienced riders to enjoy faster riding with a guide where appropriate.

It's remote, simple and wonderfully different.

Wide-open landscapes. Horses. Ger camps. And Mongolia from the saddle.

Itinerary

Day 1 | 5 July — Arrive in Ulaanbaatar

Arrive in Mongolia and transfer to your hotel in Ulaanbaatar.

Settle in, meet your fellow Gulf for Good challengers and prepare for the journey ahead. You'll have a challenge briefing and an introduction to the days to come before enjoying your first evening in Mongolia.

Day 2 | 6 July — Into the Steppe

Leave Ulaanbaatar behind and travel out towards the countryside.

As the city disappears, the landscapes open up and the Mongolia you've probably pictured begins to appear — huge skies, rolling grassland and seemingly endless space.

Arrive at Soaring Crane Ger Camp, settle into camp and meet the local riding team. You'll be introduced to the horses and begin getting comfortable in the saddle ahead of the riding days to come.

Day 3 | 7 July — Riding the Steppe

After breakfast, saddle up for your first full day of riding.

A typical riding day involves around 4–6 hours in the saddle, usually split into morning and afternoon sessions with breaks along the way and time for lunch. Expect a mixture of walking and trotting, with opportunities to canter where conditions and riding ability allow.

The exact route, distance and pace can be adapted to suit the group.

Return to camp at the end of the day for dinner and a well-earned rest.

Day 4 | 8 July — Deeper into Mongolia

Another day on horseback takes you further into Mongolia's open countryside. You'll typically cover around 20–30km over the course of the day, stopping regularly to rest both riders and horses.

Depending on the day's route, lunch may be carried with the group or you may return to camp before riding again in the afternoon.

For experienced riders, there may also be opportunities for faster riding with one of the local guides where conditions allow.

Day 5 | 9 July — Wilderness Riding & Ger Camp

Continue your journey through the steppe and into an even more remote setting. Today combines another day of riding with the experience of staying at a wilderness ger camp.

Away from city lights and hotel comforts, this is an opportunity to experience Mongolia at a slower pace and enjoy the landscape, the horses and the company around you.

Day 6 | 10 July — Riding, Community & Impact

Continue riding through the countryside as the horseback section of the challenge draws towards its conclusion.

During the challenge you will connect with the work of the Veloo Foundation and learn more about the communities it supports.

After several days on horseback, tonight brings the chance to reflect on a very different way of experiencing Mongolia.

Day 7 | 11 July — City Naadam | Ulaanbaatar

Return to Ulaanbaatar and swap the quiet of the steppe for one of Mongolia's great cultural celebrations. Experience City Naadam, with the colour, tradition and atmosphere surrounding Mongolia's famous national festival.

After days spent riding through remote countryside, it's quite a change of pace — and a memorable way to finish the adventure.

Day 8 | 12 July — Departure

After breakfast, transfer for your onward journey.

The Charity & Your Impact

Veloo Foundation

The Veloo Foundation works with vulnerable children and families in Mongolia, supporting communities facing significant social and economic challenges.

Gulf for Good's relationship with the Foundation gives challengers an opportunity to understand more about life beyond Mongolia's landscapes and tourist experiences.

The Ger-Home Project

Part of the challenge's charitable impact is connected to providing ger homes for families in need.

A ger is much more than a tent. In Mongolia it can provide a family with a safe, warm and secure place to call home.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about the project and see the impact of this support first-hand.
